The WARN Series G2 is a commercial vehicle recovery winch, which meets these rigorous standards, making it a trusted choice for recovery vehicle manufacturers and companies focused on safety. The EN standard helps ensure that all elements of winching systems - like overload prevention, emergency stops, and secure mountings - are designed to minimise risk. Key Safety Features of the WARN Series G2 Winch

• Over-Load Interrupter (OLI): The OLI is a critical feature that prevents the winch from overheating by cutting off power when the load exceeds the winch’s rated capacity. This mechanism uses Ohm’s law to monitor electrical resistance within the motor, detecting when the load becomes too great. By shutting off the winch in these situations, the OLI protects both the operator and the equipment.

 

• Emergency Stop (E-Stop): In the event of an unexpected issue during operation, the E-Stop function allows the operator or a nearby assistant to immediately cut power to the winch. The E-Stop switch is located close to the winch itself, providing a fail-safe solution to stop the winch and prevent potential accidents.

 

• Wireless Safety Controller: The WARN Series G2 winch is compatible with a wireless remote control, making it easier to operate the winch from a safe distance. The wireless controller includes an E-Stop button for enhanced safety, in keeping with EN standards.

 

• Arbil 4x4 Winch Mount: The Series G2 mount is engineered for durability, featuring design updates that make it compatible with both 10-inch and 12-inch drum winches. • Specialised EN Standard Winch Rope: The EN standards also apply to the winch rope, requiring a compacted winch rope construction with a high braking load for optimal safety. The rope’s diameter and placement on the drum must leave a safe margin, or “freeboard,” after three wraps to ensure secure operation.
